CHOOSING A CEILIDH BAND:
When choosing a Ceilidh Band please consider all your requirements very
carefully. Here are some questions you might like to ask prospective Ceilidh
Are there customer testimonials
Is the band reliable - on time and dressed for the occasion?
Do you require an entertaining and experienced dance caller?
quality of musicianship?
What instruments do the band play? (is it a hotch potch of folk instruments or
does it have a strong rhythm suited to dance!)
Can the band appeal to all ages?
- What tempo do they play at? (fast and furious with little thought for the
dancer, mid paced tempo for a good ceilidh swing or strict tempo for the serious
Scottish Country Dancer)
Can the band encourage even the most reluctant individuals onto the dance floor
(even those not
familiar with ceilidh dancing)?
- How many years
have the band been playing together and what experience do they have for playing for Ceilidh dances?
- Is the band's equipment PAT tested?
- Does the band have public liability insurance?
- Does the band have a quality sound system?
- Are the band too loud?
- Can you listen to the band before you book them -
